The Shoot the Sun event is back! .............. Too bad I honestly don't give much of a crap about Mabinogi at the moment. I can hardly give enough of a crap to rebirth my character.

Evidently some hacking is still going on, as everywhere you look in Mabinogi, NPCs are dead. Here are some pictures provided by Vincent because I cbb going on myself. You also get to see Thetos, his two-seater Thunder Dragon. Pierrick apparently died standing up. What happened to that poor horse? You can't interact with dead NPCs, meaning we can't buy anything or repair anything while they remain dead. The game isn't unplayable, at least until your weapons break. It sucks the most for people who were doing commerce when they last logged out since they can't finish their transport. Some NPCs, such as the useless guys wandering around town and Fleta and her dog, are unaffected. Tarlach and his bear form are also affected, so you can see him transform between two dead forms.

Over the New Year's weekend two different sets of hacks became rampant in Mabinogi NA. From what I understand, basically, if a hacker could guess any item in your inventory, they could use that item to 'summon' your character to their desired location, and in the process, your item would be destroyed. Any item includes potions, equipment, anything. Even personalized stuff like upgraded armor and spirit weapons. It was based on the Camp Kit item. So, if you were in a situation in which you couldn't use a camp kit, you were safe. Examples of safety: being in a dungeon or mission, doing commerce, using a skill, having absolutely nothing in your inventory, already having a camp kit set. As far as I know, the hacks started on Friday 12/30 and ended on Sunday 1/1 when Nexon took the the game down. I need to let off steam somewhere, so it might as well be here. My main character in Mabinogi is still locked out. When I try to log in as her, the game simply pushes me back to the log-in screen. At first, I didn't care that much. I have a pretty laid-back attitude towards a lot of things, and this was one of them -- especially since I knew from the IRC on the day the lockouts began that the NA GM team was working hard on it. I'm a casual player anyway, and it was right before the holidays, so I wasn't planning on playing much anyway. Eight weeks later -- and counting -- and I've lost my patience. The issue was reported to the Korean team and it's up to them to fix it. But, you know, Developing G16 is a lot more important to them. And so it came to pass that my elf wanted to fly like a bird. Riding a dragon isn't enough? But anyway. There is an annoying quest to get the elf transformation skill. First Castanea, head chief of elves, makes you do some fetch quests, and then Alexina in the human camp makes you choose one of three tasks. 1. Sketch 8 field bosses that appear in the base camp region: Giant Short Horned Gnu Giant Long Horned Gnu (also translated as "Giant Big-horned Gnu") Gold-tailed Mongoose Head Hyena Wolf-striped Desert Spider Gold Kiwi Giant Gold Forest Mushroom Spider Gold Forest Lizard 2. Defeat a fucking Giant Sandworm. Rawrg! 3. Gather up glowing gargoyle pieces and successfully make it through the glowing gargoyle Maiz dungeon. Can be done with a party of equally sucky elves and also maybe some giants. Yeah, it would be hell. But I was going to do #3 if my human was available to do the dirty work, but well she is still freaking locked out gj there...

With G15 came the Commerce System. Basically, you buy stuff with fomor (humanoid monster) money and travel to another town and sell it there for profit. Here is a brief idea of how it works. Here's the window: (Click to enlarge) It previews the current market value of the item before you buy it. The red arrows up show you how many more ducats you would get if you sold the item at each particular town. Generally, the farther places are better for profit. But then you have to walk all the way there, so you need to balance profit and speed. The blue arrow down next to Dunbarton's price means it sells for that many ducats less than the purchase price. I'd lose money going there. The price they quote you is the price you'd get if you sold the item there at that exact moment . I bought Arrow Revolver page 8 a week ago, so now it's time to hunt for page 9.  There are ten pages total, by the way. Page 9 only drops from the Small Moss Golem , which is the boss of Fiodh Intermediate for One.  It's the solo version of Fiodh Intermediate. (Picture "borrowed" from the Mabinogi World Wiki ) Waaaaaay back in the day, like back before pets were even released, Fiodh Intermediate was one of the hardest dungeons.  I remember volunteering to go into the 4-person version with Reverie and, umm some other old friends on Mari, I don't remember who.  All I remember is Reverie got an Honorable-enchanted wooden blade from it which was actually a pretty good item back then. And I also remember that the dungeon was hard as balls!!  We wiped out so many times, but the challenge was great and we had a lot of fun.  But I never volunteered for it again. So I wasn't looking forward to trying it again, especially the solo version. Vincent and ...
