Like many others, I got into the 'beta tester weekend' or whatever you want to call it. I didn't play very long, but here's how it went. The character creation was all right, though mine ended way more Asian-y that I wanted. Did not take the game seriously at all. My goal was to get killed in some hilarious hijinks sort of way. So I wasted a few minutes attempting to attack this giant monster thing but could not figure out how. Turns out it was 'green' status meaning friendly so I could not attack. 'Yellow' monsters, such as these pterodactyl things, are non-hostile but you can attack them. Which I obviously did :D These are the things I was supposed to be killing for a quest. They were pretty weak. Repeat this scene thirty-fold because these things are pretty numerous in what I assume is the tutorial zone. While I was killing these cat things... A few years ago a friend came over with his Gamecube, and he made my brother play Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes all the way through until he beat it. I only saw about half the game because I had to work that day, and honestly, form what I saw, I didn't see the appeal in it. Jump ahead to about a year ago, when a different friend told me to get Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on the PSP. Since I had never personally played the MGS series and forgot all about that Gamecube game, I was only vaguely interested. I figured I should probably at least learn about the story and gameplay of the first games and decide from there if it is something I'd like. Heck, I didn't even remember that the main character is named Snake. Reading up on it, I found that the timeline for the series is confusing. I'm not that big a fan of point & click adventure games. The only one I ever remember playing is... uh... EcoQuest when I was little. Yeah ... Anyway, my friend Soma told me about the Chzo Mythos series. I had never heard of it, but it's freeware, so I thought I'd give it a try anyway. Turns out to be a pretty interesting series. There are four games. In " 5 Days a Stranger " you play as gentleman thief Trilby. He breaks into an abandoned mansion for the loot but then can't seem to leave. Trapped with a few other people, he must discover the reason behind their imprisonment in order to escape. The gameplay isn't perfect (walk to this room, then walk to that room, then walk back again etc.), but the story is interesting enough to keep you going. Plus I lik...

One word to describe this game: Disappointing. A second word. Frustrating. And a third. Annoying. (Kinda ties in with the second.) This RPG was much-anticipated in some circles for its unique plot, cutesy look, and, of course, romance-able NPCs. I was looking up Nintendo DS games and saw this game in the RPG section, so I 'acquired' the GBA version and started playing it. The basic story is that you're an ordinary kid who's gone to sleep, and you wake up in a brand new world as a pokemon. The type of Pokemon is determined by a personality quiz at the start. You can also choose your gender but it doesn't affect the game, really. So, of course, I used a guide so that my main character is a mudkip . Unfortunately the dumb emulator erased all my beginning screenshots, so .... You can also choose a partner pokemon. He's the one who'll do most of the talking in the game, to tell you what to do next to advance the story. There are about 8 different pokemon to choose from. Recalling Pikachu's usefulness in the original Pokemon games , he was the obvious choice.
