So I ended up getting this Sony VAIOVPCF125FX/B laptop . It's great, it really is. Windows 7 is very pretty visually and easy to use. Everything loads as fast as you'd expect from an i7 and 6gb of RAM. The keyboard is nothing short of awesome. There's a full-sized numpad (!!). And it even has the Home / End / Delete / Page Up / Page Down keys that most other laptops don't have. The backlighting is cool too, I guess. But there are some issues. First, the Zone Alarm firewall that I downloaded and installed caused a couple of BSOD before I went ahead and uninstalled it. I've had problems with Zone Alarm before on my XP machine so it's not entirely unexpected. But obviously that's not Sony's fault. Also the screen is really... bleh. Seems America can't get matte screens so nearly every laptop at CompUSA, this one included, is glossy, and I can see my reflection in it. It's annoying when the backlit keys are also reflected. I'm getting a laptop pretty soon, hopefully a decent one for gaming. Now, I know if I made it a desktop I can get the same specs for half the cost, but there are a few reasons. 1. My parents are specifically paying for a laptop. They assume I'll need one when I get a job and possibly move out, since I'm graduating soon. Yes, I'm 24 and still live with my parents.  They won't let me leave o_O and why give up free room, food, and board? 2. I told them a new desktop would probably be better for my purposes, but my mom just stared at me. "But the computer you're using now is perfectly fine ." 3. They somehow think I want a Macbook because I use my brother's when I get up in the morning. It's not because I want to --- it's just less likely to wake my brother up in the morning. Previous --- Next We wanted to go to Red Rock Canyon in 2008, but it snowed. Heavily. Yes, in Vegas. So we went this year (2009). Scenic pictures result. Sorry about the watermarking but it's precautionary. I do have the originals still. We ate at the Red Rock Canyon Resort's buffet. If you join the slot card club (every casino has a slot club) you get a hefty discount. Highlights: It had steak fajitas and taco mix. And sushi but I don't eat that. But the fried catfish was a nice touch. Of course, it had many other things that I fail to remember right now. Downside: I asked for the strawberry sorbet and the guy at the counter gave me lemon. But the lemon sorbet was heavenly so it was all for the best :) And you can get icecream in a waffle cone. Oh dear. Dessert is the best part of every Las Vegas buffet. Oh! Next What did Ange do on her vacation? Went to Las Vegas , baby! Intro Every year my family and I go to Vegas. Usually it's just me, brother, and parents. Sometimes Grandma comes too, but not this year. This year the trip was 3 hours from Florida (yes I live in this hell-hole) to Minneapolis, then another 3 hours to Vegas. Here's a map. Picture modified from www.justice.gov Delays. Except. The plane broke down in Minneapolis. It took an hour to fix it. Then we all boarded. An hour later we're still on the ground. It's still broken. They move us to a new plane. An hour later we're still on the ground in the new plane. A shift change occurred so we have to wait for a new copilot to arrive. It took another hour. But everyone on board got $125 free towards a future flight. So it was painful, but not without its rewards. Food. Aargh. Thank God we had some lunch packed in our bags. We ate it between planes. This morning my Dell E510 (lol old) wouldn't boot up! Using brother's laptop, I google'd the diagnostic lights (2 and 4 were lit) on the computer's front to see what the problem was. A simple RAM re-seat was required. However, this involves opening up the case. Whenever I have to do this, I get scared. What if I break something else while trying to fix this? And, so, even after re-seating the RAM, it wouldn't boot up. This time it gave me -different- diagnostic lights (2 and 3 were lit). Ahhhh! This one was a hard-drive failure! So I started thinking, "Oh shit I haven't backed up all my important things in forever (like completed comics)." This fix was to simply reconnect all the cords dealing with floppy and hard-drive. Heh, I don't even have a floppy drive. It still wouldn't go. But then I saw that it wasn't 2 & 3, it was 1, 2, and 3. The first light's sticker is peeling up so I couldn't see that it was on....

I moved my Wordpress blog over here because blogger provides many more free options. Also this way it's part of my comic and sprite network ; maybe I'll remember to update more often! I tried to make the design simple and aesthetically-pleasing, without looking like every other blog out there (tons had that old Kubrick theme). I've made a pretty nice Archive page to make it easier to find specific topics. Hope all of you two+ readers out there will like it :) I do plan to finish the Korean typing guide and my G9 adventures soon.

I decided to buy some RAM for my computer through crucial.com, since, well, it was cheaper there than on Dell's website. I ordered it Monday afternoon, the order was processed Tuesday, and I got it Thursday. I chose normal 3-5 day shipping. Pretty fast! And it's working perfectly. I'd recommend using them again. I'm not even Catholic, but I've decided to take part in Lent this year. For those of you who don't know, basically you give up something important to you for 40 days and 40 nights (not including any Sundays that pass during that time). It's supposed to prove to yourself (and/or God) that you can overcome your desires, and that you can go through with your vows/promises (since like everyone's failed their New Years' Resolutions by now). It starts on Ash Wednesday (which was Feb 25th this year) and ends on the day before Easter . Some people give up little things, like Coca-Cola or candies. Anything that distracts you, or that you're obsessive over, or that you tend to crave is a good candidate. My best friend gave up music a year or two ago, and she said it was hard. I'm giving up Video Games and the Mabinogi World wiki . I'm one of the top contributors to the wiki, and I monitor every change made to it. I'm quite OCD over it. It...

My family rented a car with Payless at Las Vegas. The front desk lady was real cute & sweet. She told us she was giving us a free upgrade. It was a scam. Not until after we had signed the papers and received the bill did we find that they charged 20$ extra -a day- for that "free" upgrade. When I called up to complain, they just told me it was my fault for signing the papers. It also took 5 calls before they'd even consider listening to me. Yes, I know it was stupid not to check the fine print. But that is still not a good way to run a business. I will never rent with them again. If it was 5$ a day, I wouldn't have complained. But 20$? They are seriously milking this. Be careful of cute front desk ladies and thier "sweet" deals. However, it could have been a lot worse!
