Skiing Event

There's a skiing event in Mabinogi. Let's check it out!

First, we had to climb a big hill in Physis (well I just used my big ol' pelican and flew to the top. Why isn't there a ski lift?).  The hill is pretty obvious since it is marked by a quest beacon.

Once you hit the signpost, you suddenly get skis on.


And down we go.


The goal is to make it between the flags. If you miss one, you get penalized by 5 seconds, which hurts.

Barely made it through these. Look, a bird.


I'ma miss that one, for sure.


Well, it would look better as a video, right? Oh well.

The reward is a Sheep Robe. You have to make it to the bottom with a time of 51 seconds or less. You can only have one robe at a time, so if you don't like the color, simply drop it and try again. Also, you can hit the sign at the bottom to be teleported back to the top.

Controls are: W forward, A/D move left/right, S backwards (doesn't work very well), and press and hold spacebar while turning to drift. You will need to drift to make it through some of the poles.

I failed many times, then suddenly I figured out how to drift and did pretty darn good after that. Every sheep robe I've gotten so far is ugly, though.

Baldur's Gate 003

Previous We return to the map south of the Friendly Arm Inn to hunt the ogre that stole all those belts. We found it easily enough. It aggro'd Soma, who I moved back so he could start shooting. Then, when everyone else mobbed the ogre, it got kinda stunlocked in the trees and went down without a fight. It was very anticlimactic. I was almost hoping for Xzar to get whacked since he ran into melee range. Alas. I really thought someone was going to die. Ogres hit like a truck and could easily one-shot any of our level 1 party.  Anyway, the Ogre had two unidentified belts to bring back to the quest giver. But instead of going right back to the Friendly Arm, we explore the rest of this map, and run into these clowns. Jaheira:  There is no surrender for carrion like these. Fruits Basket Manga (warning, spoilers and swearing)

I've been reading Foruba (the 'cute' Japanese nickname for Fruits Basket ) manga for a while now. The series started off wonderfully.  I loved it and was hooked rather fast.  I actually bought the first 12 volumes for a steal on eBay. The plot sounds lame, but the characters are quite likable.  Basically, Tohru is living alone, has nowhere to go, and she happens across the Sohma family, and they take her in, only for her to find that many of the Sohmas are cursed and change into animals when they come into close contact with people of the opposite sex.  This last part always sounded ridiculous to me, so I avoided the series until Herro asked me to watch the anime with him online once. I also avoided it because Tohru's eyes are freaking huge and scary! Pic from this site .
