Dark Wizard 24

Scarn 19th

The treasurer woke me up in the middle of the night. Normally he and I do not get along, since he is, frankly, a skinflint and refuses to let me hand out as many promotions to our troops as I want, and to hire the people who have been asking for work.

But apparently he heard some screams near his room, and this morning one of our stewards was discovered missing.

Thinking over it, we have had quite a few people from our entourage go missing. The cartographer comes to mind. I'm not concerned; it's a troubled world we live in. Probably these people have simply left to visit their families.

At any rate, we have not yet taken Ridley Castle.

The ghost that was heading our way was sufficiently distracted by Flimzy. Fortunately our man was not paralyzed, and Ickiren is making his way there as backup.

And what's this?

Combo Melt Earth + enemy ZAP spell =

Our wizard Yumekai has fallen again.

Our men decided it was time to take out those evil bishops.

(the Blk Bishop by the road)

[LINK ATTACKS.]

What the? The Black Bishop did more damage to Link than he did to it!

+2 HP, +4 Attack

Oh, well, that makes up for it.

I ended the turn and expected another Melt Earth. But Aracna did nothing. Seriously, nothing. Not even a healing spell for his poor Black Bishop, which had by this point been paralyzed by Tadleer.

Kefkai put the Black Bishop out of his misery, and Buklauu went after the other one.

[BUKLAUU ATTACKS.]

[BUKLAUU DEFEATED THE ENEMY.]

+28 HP, +5 Attack, +1 Defense, +1 Mobility, no new spell

Aracna's turn again... look at his HP. We hurt him pretty bad. But what is he casting?

Not Melt Earth.

He got all his HP back now. Well, this is how you can gain major experience for any units lagging behind in levels. After surrounding the boss, just keep knocking his HP down to low levels, but don't kill him, and he'll only use Megarestore every turn to heal himself. Repeat ad infinitum.

Oh, and here's why you have a Hellhound. Have it attack first to absorb Aracna's counterattack.

Previous turn:

[ARACNA COUNTERATTACKS]

This turn:

[ARACNA COUNTERATTACKS]

36 damage is far lower than what he'd do to, say, Ladywinter. Squishy is a resilient little demon doggy.

Aracna finally retreated around noon and our forces moved in to occupy Ridley.

And in other news:

You always have to send some units off to guard castles. The best units to send are dragons and hydras since you can afford to go without them.

Well, you don't -have- to have guards, but then the enemy will take the castle and you'll have to repeat the map to take it back. It would be a nice way to get experience, but it's much easier to just molest the level boss as described above.
