Dark Wizard 19 (Silka)

On to the next map! Silka.

Every enemy's defeat in particular, because, well, we aren't losing.

Scarn 17th

There have been only minor skirmishes up to this point. We're nearing the eastern coastline. Soon we'll be in a perfect position to retake Cheshire.

Cheshire is the capital of the kingdom --- it's the next map, south of this one, and the final Aracna map. It's also the map I have to beat before I can make lawful units and finish with the recruitment. Also, when we beat Aracna, we'll be approximately 1/5 done with the game.

The usual order is Aracna (earth demon) -> Aqua (water) -> Sheena (wind) -> Karnak (fire) -> The Boss.

Anyway, Boxxy was paralyzed.

Not pictured: Zem's death to that warlock's earth spell.

Scarn 18th

Invye evolved into a greater harpy.

The Great Silka Forest is historically known as the home of the elves. We've sent Limelle out to investigate. Being our only elf, she will be our best bet at opening negotiations with the elves if they are still around.

A funny looking spot in the forest...

But she has had no luck so far.

We're once again closing in on Aracna, and again he is fighting back with the full force of his magic.

[to Euld, 51 to Yumekai, but also...]

Aracna killed his own ghost. Enemy AI is a bit deficient.

With most of the strong units gone, our main concern is the Black Bishop, shown here casting a heal spell on a skeleton.

It's the final-tier priest. We have no priest at this class level. Euld just barely became a bishop, which is one class below this. This game likes to put strong human units pre-spawned on the map (recall the Berserker and Sniper in the last map), while the monsters are almost always weak crap. The bosses like quantity over quality so they often only summon a horde of skeletons.

Aracna likes ghosts, and they're annoying even though they are weak...

And, if you look some screens up, Link is also paralyzed. And Niah.

It's an entire day (that's 4 full turns) later and Boxxy is STILL paralyzed.

It wears off eventually. It can also be cured by 3rd-level and higher healing spells. Rogutaan is the only one with such a spell. Yes, Euld may be a bishop, but he has only level 1 healing. Sigh. But he does have a mean ZAP spell.

Also, Rogutaan and Euld are the same class level. The alignment is why their classes and sprites are different. They are essentially at the same level.

At certain levels (it depends on race), mages and priests will learn a new spell. The spell is chosen at random. I'd love to make them max out their healing spells, but I can't do anything about it if the game decides to give them stun-the-enemy and the vaguely-named "shield" spells instead.

Here's healing in action. The 4th-level healing spell, Restore, can heal 2 units at once. Rogutaan heals both Yumekai and Euld after the ordeal they just went through.

Euld before:

Euld after:

It doesn't heal much, I know, but it can still mean life or death. If Aracna does Melt Earth again next turn and hits Yumekai, he'll survive now.

  1. Having about three Google accounts can lead to strange situations. Oh, well.

You know I am loving this LP, and I felt the need to come over here and say it out loud! Keep it up. :D
