Scarn 19th

The intelligence reports have come in from all the local cities. We've asked our troops to gather as much information about the elves as they can.

Enclosed is a general map of where each city is, since we have yet to find a replacement cartographer.

The first report is from Bubba in Koz.

Town Square:

Elven magic? Please elaborate!

Or don't... She's right though, there is no road to this city. It was a pain to get to. Dwarves are slowwwww.

Weapon Shop:

Ridley. That's the castle that Aracna is currently occupying. Fortunately Euld is at the town there, and we had Rogutaan heal him up enough to survive another Melt Earth should Aracna use that. So, we can make him gather info too, instead of running away or resting.

Anyway, the weapon shop guy continues:

"Since the lord was killed by Aracna's army, we can't find such quality materials anymore. If you want more details, why don't you ask the mayor? He's the one who told me everything."

To the mayor, then:

"They were given to us a long time ago by a nobleman from Ridley. Since our town is so far from the capital, the stories of magic helped to draw travelers.

How did the lord obtain the items? I don't know, he never told me. I suppose the source has been lost forever, now that he is dead."

That closes Bubba's report. At least we have the city of Ridley as a lead. Even if the nobleman is dead, someone there is bound to know him.

At the church:

"This can only mean that the Dark Lord Arliman is awakening. The only power that can go against Arliman is that of Sabrina. We must pray for mercy, that she will send us a champion to defeat the demon army. Only such a hero could stand against the encroaching darkness."

I don't think any of my units are really, well, holy. Link is the only lawful unit I have so far. And he died last map and is paralyzed right now. That's... not a heroic sign. Or maybe she means someone else ... ?

Ickiren reports from Nast.

The Inn:

This is relevant how?

The Mayor:

Church:

And this is not one of them =/

Perhaps Ickiren didn't get the memo on what we wanted info on.

Flimzy's report comes to us from Woors (which is also off the beaten path).

Town Square:

"It's funny, I always thought her sister, the one who sells potions, was the wild one. By the way, please don't say a word about this to the potion seller. She's scary when she gets mad."

I am not sure why he included the local gossip in his report, to be honest.

Weapon Shop:

There is supposed a joke in this whole gossip incident. This weapon dealer is Marcus, a warrior who plays an important role in the game if you chose Krystal as your leader. The potion seller and the priestess are Krystal and her sister (or so I think, maybe not I can't remember). They're basically cameos. We can safely ignore them.

Potion Shop:

Hey, now we're getting somewhere!

"That story was from long ago. Maybe we lost valuable allies."

Let's buy some SPD POT while we're here.

Or not, it's too expensive. (Just wanted to get a smirk out of item names.). The GOR TAIL is a gorgon's tail. It cures petrification, which is pretty much the same thing as paralysis only funnier. We'll see it later on in the game.

Mayor:

"They came to our village often. But when the lord of Ridley Castle attacked the elven village, they disappeared. We would love for them to come back."

This explains why we cannot find many elves, but why did the lord of Ridley attack them? Perhaps Aracna did the people a favor by taking over his castle.

Church:

"No matter what happens, it's important to have a heart that wants to do good."

We've learned a little more about the elves and Ridley. It's time to read to see what happened there.

Euld's report.

Town Square:

"They say if you walk straight into that spot, you'll come out again at the exact same place."

Ah, so it is elven magic keeping Limelle from finding the elves?

Tavern:

"When the elf noticed me, he immediately bolted off into the trees. I tried to follow him, but I lost him in the trees."

Alchemist:

"No one's seen an elf in the city since before the war."

Now, before you think of making me take Limelle here, I'm telling you there is absolutely no special dialogue for bringing an elf to talk to this guy.

Mayor:

"This was long before Aracna came to our lands, but even then, we had plenty of troubles. The lord of Ridley Castle was a greedy, vicious man. He cared only for his own gain.

He was always fond of elven workmanship, and collected all the elven items he could find. One day, his greed overcame him, and he mounted an attack upon an elven village.

Many innocent elves were slaughtered that day, and all for his petty gains. Since that day, the elves have never shown themselves to people again. Can you blame them?

They say there is an elven village hidden somewhere deep in the forest. If there is, they probably wouldn't welcome any humans who stumbled upon it."

But what about an elf who is helping the humans...?

Limelle, try again.

Bingo.
