Chzo Mythos

Image
I'm not that big a fan of point & click adventure games. The only one I ever remember playing is... uh... EcoQuest when I was little. Yeah ... Anyway, my friend Soma told me about the Chzo Mythos series. I had never heard of it, but it's freeware, so I thought I'd give it a try anyway. Available here: http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/donate.htm The creator is apparently internets-famous as the guy does the Zero Punctuation video reviews for escapist magazine. Turns out to be a pretty interesting series. There are four games. In " 5 Days a Stranger " you play as gentleman thief Trilby. He breaks into an abandoned mansion for the loot but then can't seem to leave. Trapped with a few other people, he must discover the reason behind their imprisonment in order to escape. The gameplay isn't perfect (walk to this room, then walk to that room, then walk back again etc.), but the story is interesting enough to keep you going. Plus I lik

Previous --- Index --- Next Scarn 11th "We need some delectable elves in our army," the king told me. I'm sure he meant delightful, or delicate. But elves... they are elusive, keeping out of the affairs of men, and they usually stay neutral in all conflicts. None have offered to join us so far. But the king demands it, so we must push for them. I've put out a sort of propaganda campaign. (Zelda images from here and here ). Hopefully it will bring in someone. I noticed that more and more chaotic personalities are signing up. It makes me wary, but I understand that we need all the help we can get. Now that I've mentioned it... We recently hired a dwarf named Guv'na. He and the other dwarfs got into a violent argument. Guv'na plans to take up magic, which is forbidden to dwarfs. It goes against all dwarven tradition not to be a warrior rushing headlong into battle. But Guv'na then hit the offender over the head with hi

New Laptop Ramblings

So I ended up getting this Sony VAIOVPCF125FX/B laptop . It's great, it really is. Windows 7 is very pretty visually and easy to use. Everything loads as fast as you'd expect from an i7 and 6gb of RAM. The keyboard is nothing short of awesome. There's a full-sized numpad (!!). And it even has the Home / End / Delete / Page Up / Page Down keys that most other laptops don't have. The backlighting is cool too, I guess. But there are some issues. First, the Zone Alarm firewall that I downloaded and installed caused a couple of BSOD before I went ahead and uninstalled it. I've had problems with Zone Alarm before on my XP machine so it's not entirely unexpected. But obviously that's not Sony's fault. Also the screen is really... bleh. Seems America can't get matte screens so nearly every laptop at CompUSA, this one included, is glossy, and I can see my reflection in it. It's annoying when the backlit keys are also reflected. And the viewing angle i

Backloggery 2009

I've got a backloggery account . It's a nice site, but it doesn't save your notes in an archive after you update the status. So I'm going to use this post to do that. December Quote for the month: "But how does it taste?" -- Naked Snake, MGS3 Mass Effect 1. Usually in games like these my party is biased towards humans, but I really like Wrex and Garrus. 2. The Mako would have crashed within the first 5 minutes of me driving it if the physics weren't designed never to let me crash. Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale 1. Cute game. I like Louie. 2. I am horribly addicted to this game. 3. I know Charme is crying over this lost fish fin: http://bit.ly/hn7viL 4. That's about it for this game. I realized getting 100% on the item encyclopedia would require days of non-stop playing at minimum. Other games await! Super Scribblenauts 1. This game is so fun! But at this rate I'll beat it in a couple of days. 2. I finished the level

Previous --- Index --- Next Scarn 10th I found my lord dozing on the throne here. I quietly advised him to get some rest, and he told me not to interrupt his concentration. He was actually casting magic, "bringing harm to our foes," he said. Amon is the only leader with the Blade Storm spell. It has infinite range and causes (relatively) massive damage to any chosen unit. Very abusable . Buklauu finally reached Nieve and delivered the package. In return he was given an Ancient Scroll, which reportedly belongs to the mayor of Dreik. We'll send him there soon. In any case, Aracna was forced to retreat and we've taken castle Bidorf. Them's fightin' words Guards on guard duty get experience, too. Previous --- Index --- Next
