Dark Wizard 43 (Eureska)

Our next destination has a very large, dense forest. I wonder if there are elves living around here?

Regardless, it's almost a good thing we already spent all of our money on another Rapid Bow for Boxxy and other supplies, since the blacksmiths in Willis won't be able to sell us anything in their condition.

Someone suggested to me that we raid the city since none of its petrified citizens can stop us, but that's dishonest and I forbid our men from doing any looting or pillaging.

Apparently, a basilisk is the cause of the city's problems.

Further down the southeastern road, a great serpent has been seen high in the mountains. It seemed odd, at first -- such creatures prefer to be in the open ocean -- but it is guarding a mine.

Serpents and Great Serpents are basically hydras. As far as I can remember, this is the only one we'll ever see in the game.

Leaders Armer and Robin have the ability to summon serpents instead of hydras.

The castle Sheena occupies is on an island in the river's delta. It will be difficult to attack.

No lie. All of our non-flying units have very low movement in watery terrain.

Siang 17th

The king has decided to send all of our warriors out first.

Ladywinter already made contact with an enemy griffin.

A harpy swept past our defenses to attack Ickiren, who is barely setting out. These creatures are the only things ever to make it so close to our home castle. Quite chilling, it is, to think I might even see it if I simply walk over to the balcony.

~50 damage to Ickiren.

In other news, Zem is being sent south to travel the far way around the forest, while the majority of our troops will be heading directly east into the forest.

Dragon counters for ~20.

Surprisingly, at least in my mind, the dragon is less of a threat than the cockatrices. Maybe our warriors are primed for dragon-slaying, and fighting a cross between a chicken and a snake is simply not in their training.

Since Flimzy was so mauled by that monster chicken, the king used his healing magic on him.

It seems the king should have waited, however. It will take some time for him to prepare another restorative spell.

It's just funny to see a rock gain a level.

Finally, the harpy was dispatched. I can breathe a little easier now.

Maddimist took quite a risk, considering what happened to Flimzy earlier in the day.

Fortunately, Rogutaan's healing hands are nearby.

Sairek joins the fight with his new lightning spell (level 2 thunder).

But we were unable to defeat the basilisk due to Sheena's intervention.

Soon after, Bubba was on the receiving end of a wind spell (60 damage).

Somma weakened the wizard, allowing Kefkai an easy victory.

Rogutaan's magic restored Flimzy.

It seems Limelle occasionally reverts to her old, goat-loving self.

Buklauu tried to return Sansha to her normal form, but failed. In the process, though, he improved his healing spell.

This is the max level healing spell. Finally! By the way, only Mega Restore can cure goat status.

The dragon from earlier made a valiant attempt at retreat, but our king felt no mercy.

Zem discovered a ruin on the way south and plans to explore it.

The rock learns magic this time. Heh.

The darkness of the forest is bad on human eyes. If Ladywinter was an elf instead, well, the sniper would not have stood a chance.

'heart' takes 46 damage.

Even under attack, all 'heart' thinks of is helping others.

Level 4 healing, and he's only a priest. That's great!

Siang 18th - Morning

Ladywinter received assistance for all the injuries she sustained during the night.

(after help from Boxxy and Buklauu's magic)

Limelle's earth-shattering magic easily defeats harpies, despite the fact that they can fly. I guess they have to perch and rest at some point, and that is when she gets them.

Poor Banquo tried to paralyze the basilisk, but obviously failed.

A combination of magic

and melee and the basilisk is finally defeated.

Perhaps the people in Willis can be restored by our priests now.

Unrelated, Zem found quite a prize in the ruins.

The next chance he had, he put it on.

The best armor in the game: Hero's Armor, 50 Defense. Most of our army is wearing cloth armor at 3 defense.

Limelle is truly putting a dent in the harpy population.

After some help from the archers, Ladywinter cleared the way to Willis.

Kefkai entered, but

it seems Sheena's evil magic hasn't worn off yet.
