We have Karmak cornered!

The map is not up to par, please bear with me. I can assure you that there's only a contingent of skeletons on the path to Karmak.

(I'll upload a marked map later; right now I just want to get the update up)

So we've been told. Repeatedly.

So he says, but he doesn't seem to be holding back, sending out our best troops first.

Or maybe not the best.

Obviously I was mistaken about there only being skeletons on the road, but the winged horse and Boxxy have worked together to bring down the enemy warlock.

Speaking of a winged horse, it is time for Vespera to take Boxxy's lead.

Only lawful fighters can become a pegasus-rider.

Then Boxxy circled around to take Garmesh.

Rufus? That's the city on the peninsula we passed just the day before. We'll have to do some backtracking if this is true.

Is this worth a look? Since we have already taken this region, it should be simple.

I don't think you're a young woman, my good man. You'd only scare them away.

... He has a point.

That is still frustratingly vague. I suppose we'll worry about it when we have the "Water Mirror."

Can't you help us more than that? Give us a letter to get your brother to give it to us?

> Pray 3 times.

Well, that's a start!

Crystal mace, a weapon for lawful priests. Since only 'heart' fits that, he'll be the one to get it.

Vespera in action. I like how the horse gores the enemy with its horn.

+57 HP, +27 Attack, +6 Defense

No new sprite, but with that HP bonus I'll feel better about putting him on the frontlines.

Yumekai calls on Afreet!

Susan returned to the spring in the hopes of seeing another winged horse,

but none could be found.

I guess you can't get more than one. Bummer, we have room in the roster for it!

+12 HP, +44 Attack, +6 Defense

Link became, well, a better ninja. Hopefully we can keep him out of the hospital, now.

This necromancer apparently has no magic, since it decided to melee Squishy.

Sairek called on Silphia.

I wonder if she is based on Valvalis (sp?) from Final Fantasy 4.

If you don't have battle animations on, you get the map-screen animation. So, here it is.

I think this spell was worth getting! In comparison, Limelle's level 3 fire spell only did 50 damage to the same enemy.

Sansha reached the city closest to Karmak's domain.

I highly doubt we'll need to fight a god. We aren't Vian, after all.

But speaking of dragon riders, hmm...

Don't forget!

We should really ask a hobbit about this rod we were given, too, come to think of it.

As we near Karmak, he continues to fight the good fight.

But we have an ace up our sleeve, make no mistake.

I didn't know this, but when you transfer you get a little bit of info on the unit you are transferring to.

Expert with axes, yes.

Bows, mm-hmm.

Expert with goat...? Uh, game...?

Anyway, we give the ring to Kefkai.

He approaches a dragon, and...

I'm sure it's a frightening sight, seeing a warlord on a dragon.

And it evokes images of Dragonrider Vian, too...

So, the guy who gave us the ring tells us that we need the strongest warrior, the strongest dragon, and a certain weapon to have a dragon rider. In truth, any warrior matching the dragon's alignment will do (chaotic in the case of undead dragons), and any class 4 (final class) dragon will do, too. Also, he's alluding the Slayer with the 'certain weapon' bit, but obviously we do not have it and did not need it.

He immediately tested himself against Karmak.

Even with a combined effort, Karmak refused to fall.

He truly seems to be invincible...

You get the idea. It's true. On this final map, Karmak is unkillable. You can get him down to 1 HP, but afterward, all attacks will miss. Magic will show its animation, but will do no damage.

It's actually pretty useful for leveling up! But we want to kill him, not cheese the game.

In the end, the king was forced to call a retreat. We need to regroup and pour our effort into finding this water spirit.

Basically, we need to send a search party to Rufus on the previous map to retrieve the water mirror.

I was worried for a second about this, thinking I forgot to guard the castle and that I'd have to repeat a map.

But as it turns out, that castle is on the final Karmak map, so I can skip retaking it. However, now we can't go check out the 'buried treasure' that one guy mentioned until later.

Next: Kill it with water
