Sherlock Holmes Movie

Image
First off, I liked it! However, I do admit I've never seen an 'official' Sherlock Holmes movie, nor have I ever read any of the stories, books, or play adaptations.  The only Holmes-related thing I've seen was a parody called "Without a Clue" in which Watson is the smart one and Holmes the bumbler. I'll try not to spoil much of anything here. Story The movie starts off with a bit of action.  They don't give you any backstory.  It's not really needed either. Holmes and Dr. Watson close their last case together by infiltrating a building.  Their actions result in the arrest of Lord Blackwood, who has been dabbling in black magic and murdering young women, and he is sentenced to death.  However, after he is hanged (and Dr. Watson was the one who pronounced him dead afterward), his grave has been broken into (or out of ... ?) and rumors spread that Blackwood has come back from the grave.  The city will go into riotous panic if the truth isn&

Las Vegas 2009 (part 3)

Previous --- Next We are staying at THE hotel . I'm not kidding, that is its name. THE hotel . Capital THE, lowercase hotel. It's the high-class extension of Mandalay Bay. We got a steal on the price of the room. Picture from www.destination360.com And here are the room pics we took. The living room. That sofa is not comfortable. The bedroom. There is a big-screen TV in that closet. I slept in the same bed as my mom. My brother slept on the sofa in the living room since it'd be creepy otherwise lol. Bathroom #1 is like a closet at the room's entrance. We took no pictures of it. Bathroom #2 is attached to the bedroom. It has a bathtub and shower (shower is next to the tub. The towel is on its door) Two sinks in one bathroom? There is also a TV on the wall in this bathroom. The bar in the living room. Obviously, if we open up anything we'd get charged for it. There is a box on the bar labeled "The Love Box.

Las Vegas 2009 (part 2)

Previous --- Next We got our bags without a problem. Weather : It was a pretty cool 45°F out there (~7°C). I love it! Anyway, we got our rental car from Alamo without any problems. No rate hikes, no "free" upgrades , no push for insurance. I love them! We rented a Kia Spectra. It's a smooth ride and quiet! I like it. Image from the Wikipedia Commons Afterward we were starving. But since it was kind of late for dinner, we didn't want to go to a buffet. So, we went to the Orleans Casino. I like and dislike the casino. Of all the casinos in Vegas, this one smells the most like cigarettes. It's almost stifling. There's a non-smoking area, but people still smoke in there. What's the point? =/ Anyway we only went there because they have a Fuddruckers . The closest location to us "back home" is over an hour away, so we never get to eat there. Basically, they cook the burger and you build it yourself using their condi

Next What did Ange do on her vacation? Went to Las Vegas , baby! Intro Every year my family and I go to Vegas. Usually it's just me, brother, and parents. Sometimes Grandma comes too, but not this year. This year the trip was 3 hours from Florida (yes I live in this hell-hole) to Minneapolis, then another 3 hours to Vegas. Here's a map. Picture modified from www.justice.gov Delays. Except. The plane broke down in Minneapolis. It took an hour to fix it. Then we all boarded. An hour later we're still on the ground. It's still broken. They move us to a new plane. An hour later we're still on the ground in the new plane. A shift change occurred so we have to wait for a new copilot to arrive. It took another hour. But everyone on board got $125 free towards a future flight. So it was painful, but not without its rewards. Food. Aargh. Thank God we had some lunch packed in our bags. We ate it between planes. Ham sandwich with salsa

G9 Wild Fun Part 4 (spoilers)

With Dicey out of the picture , we had no choice but to find someone else to fight the dreaded Glas Gabbledegook. Getting Xing on would probably be too much work. We doubt he even has KR server installed anymore.  Also, he has little patience for party failure.  But who should come on just when he need him? Rozalis ! And! He's an archer! Perfect :) Remember, we only have a half-hour to finish this entire mission. And here is why everyone should beat Generation 8!  Though, I haven't beat G8 on any server :( Adniel's Hornpipe in action. Glas Gabble takes a beating. Buuuuuut. He still has fast regeneration, so in effect summoning the dragon was a waste. It looked cool to see those evil cows die though, hehe. Kyoyaki summons some walls so we can be somewhat protected. The plan is to distract Glas while Rozalis shoots him. I ... kinda stand around, feeling helpless. Ouchies! Kyoyaki and I decided to transform at roughly the same time an

Computer Problem Scare!

This morning my Dell E510 (lol old) wouldn't boot up! Using brother's laptop, I google'd the diagnostic lights (2 and 4 were lit) on the computer's front to see what the problem was. A simple RAM re-seat was required. However, this involves opening up the case. Whenever I have to do this, I get scared. What if I break something else while trying to fix this? And, so, even after re-seating the RAM, it wouldn't boot up. This time it gave me -different- diagnostic lights (2 and 3 were lit). Ahhhh! This one was a hard-drive failure! So I started thinking, "Oh shit I haven't backed up all my important things in forever (like completed comics)." This fix was to simply reconnect all the cords dealing with floppy and hard-drive. Heh, I don't even have a floppy drive. It still wouldn't go. But then I saw that it wasn't 2 & 3, it was 1, 2, and 3. The first light's sticker is peeling up so I couldn't see that it was on.

New blog site.

I moved my Wordpress blog over here because blogger provides many more free options. Also this way it's part of my comic and sprite network ; maybe I'll remember to update more often! I tried to make the design simple and aesthetically-pleasing, without looking like every other blog out there (tons had that old Kubrick theme). I've made a pretty nice Archive page to make it easier to find specific topics. Hope all of you two+ readers out there will like it :) I do plan to finish the Korean typing guide and my G9 adventures soon.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon

Image
I was looking up Nintendo DS games and saw this game in the RPG section, so I 'acquired' the GBA version and started playing it. The basic story is that you're an ordinary kid who's gone to sleep, and you wake up in a brand new world as a pokemon. The type of Pokemon is determined by a personality quiz at the start. You can also choose your gender but it doesn't affect the game, really. So, of course, I used a guide so that my main character is a mudkip . Unfortunately the dumb emulator erased all my beginning screenshots, so .... You can also choose a partner pokemon. He's the one who'll do most of the talking in the game, to tell you what to do next to advance the story. There are about 8 different pokemon to choose from. Recalling Pikachu's usefulness in the original Pokemon games , he was the obvious choice. By the way, your character is pretty much a silent protagonist, although you'll get some internal monologue revealing his

Spyro 3 fail

Image
I've been playing Spyro 3, Year of the Dragon, all this week. I don't know why, but I like the Spyro games. What other game can you play as a dragon (even if he is purple)? I beat Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage with 100% completion the week before. Got all orbs and all gems. So, I was planning to beat Spyro 3 with 100% completion too. I was doing pretty good with this goal. And then I hit a wall. The Country Speedway. I've always hated the speedway levels. You have to hit or go through all the goals within the time limit to beat it. 4 kinds of goals and 8 of each kind = 32 things total. After a few runs you memorize the course until you win. Spyro 3 added a racing minigame quest, too. In this speedway you race some biplanes flown by pigs. When pigs fly.. ah whatever. Picture from Giant Bomb Anyway, apparently there's a bug in the game. If you leave the speedway without winning the racing minigame, you can never win it . Even when you've won

How to download and install KR Test Client

Image
Since I've been told this blog is the #3 result for "KR Test Client" in google, I felt I should at least add some guide on how to get said client. 1. Go to KR Mabinogi's website: http://www.mabinogi.com/c3/ Note: You must use Internet Explorer . 2. Logging in is not necessary; you just need to navigate to the download page. Mouse over the computer picture and select the first button that comes up underneath it. Picture below. 3. Click the test server client. It's the second orange button there and has a gamepad with "TEST" written over it. Picture below ( click to enlarge ). 4. Begin download. 5. Install client when finished. Note: DO NOT install it to the same folder as another client, or else it will overwrite that client. Q. But won't it overwrite my CN/JP/NA/TW server install? Nope! Test server shouldn't cause any conflicts with the server you already have. This is because the Test server has a registry s

Ponyo

Image
A Miyazaki film now playing in theaters. Synopsis It's from the creators of Howl's Moving Castle. A young little goldfish lives under the sea. She is the daughter of the ocean's guardian, and she wants to be human. One day she swims away from home, gets stuck in a jar, and washes up on the shore, and a little boy named Sosuke rescues her. He names her Ponyo. Through her magic she begins to turn into a human, but her father is against it completely. Will Sosuke and Ponyo be able to stay friends? My thoughts It's definitely a Studio Ghibli creation; the animation gives it away real fast. There are some funny old ladies in it, and they reminded me think of the evil fat witch in Howl's Moving Castle. The father was a really funny, eccentric, creepy guy. I wish we were given more background on him. The fish and water under his command (and Ponyo's) was something to see, very animated and interesting. There was a long, stormy ocean scene, and
